Viewer’s Choice Decisions Tonight

Hello, Mummer Lovers!  It’s time to award the Viewer’s Choice winners for the Fancy Brigades and String Bands from New Year’s Day.  The results from mid-January’s calculations have been securely kept in a mustard jar on Rusty Martz’ stoop.  They will be revealed this evening, Tuesday evening, at the new event facility at SugarHouse Casino.

All Mummers at the event will receive one Free Drink Ticket for a beverage of their choice, including a non-alcohol drink. Two buffets will serve prime rib, (2) side dishes, a pasta station with (2) options, and a dessert spread.

And!!! There are three $1,000 drawings from the pool of all other clubs present.   Be there by 7 pm.  Please allow for a little slower traffic.  The delicious event will take place despite the small to modest snowfall expected.

Thank you to South Philadelphia String Band for providing the entertainment.

Any changes due to weather or objections from the mustard jar will be reported on this site.

This note for those under 21 or with family members under 21:  “Individuals under 21 are welcome, but families with underage kids will need to park in the parking garage (as they aren’t allowed on the gaming floor), take the elevator straight to the event center on the 2nd floor, and exit the same way.”

Let’s Strut

Happy New Year! Sitting in the broadcast booth anticipating the parade! Happy 2016. Long live the Philadelphia tradition! Have fun.

Joyous Mass

image

A happy strut through Sacred Heart Church today as Father James Otto led young children on a joyous celebration of life in the annual Wench and Comic Brigades Memorial Mass.

New Sound Brass Band played. You should hear them in a church. The Mass honored all who left us but particularly Joseph Monk Bryson, of Bryson NYB and John Power,  of James Froggy Carr, NYB.  A great start to Hat Day, less than a week to the annual Philadelphia tradition of the Mummers Parade.

Soup-er!

Congratulations to Joan and George Banks of Riverfront NYA for winning the 4th annual Golden Ladle Soup contest at the Mummers Museum. A great New England Clam Chowder. Cara Liom and Golden Crown finished 2nd and 3rd. All 15 participants had wonderful soups. Thanks to Dr. Jim and President Rusty, Patty Nelson and the team for making it all happen. And a portion of the proceeds goes to a fund to help kids of domestic violence situations.
